Florida Congressman Byron Donalds (R) is demanding the impeachment of Chief Judge James Boasberg and U.S. District Judge Deborah Boardman after refusing to testify during a Senate hearing on the impeachment of “rogue judges.”
“Chief Judge Boasberg was entrusted to be impartial & non-political. HE FAILED. He became a corrupt, hyper-partisan hack that signed off on unlawful subpoenas to target & entrap GOP rivals. HE MUST BE IMPEACHED & I stand with [Rep. Brandon Gill], in fighting to make this a reality,” Donalds shared in a post on X.
Included in Donald’s post is a FOX News snippet where the anchor goes into more detail about the accusations of corruption, colluding with the controversial “Arctic Frost” investigation, and wanting to create a haven for “dangerous” Venezuelans.
“Boasberg, whose series of judgments regarding the Trump administration has ignited a legal firestorm, including his decision to restrict the White House's use of the Alien Enemies Act to deport Venezuelans. There were also questions about his apparent role in Arctic Frost. The FBI investigation that allegedly tracked the private communications and phone calls of nearly a dozen Republican lawmakers,” the anchor said.
Critics accuse Boardman of rallying against the Trump administration’s efforts to restrict birthright citizenship.
Previously, Boasberg revived contempt proceedings against Trump administration officials who authorized the deportation flights of 137 Venezuelans to the CECOT anti-terrorism prison in El Salvador in March, even after the judge ordered them to cancel the flights.
Boasberg believes the administration went against the due process rights of those on the planes and intends to hold Trump’s officials accountable for their actions.
Texas Congressman Chip Roy (R) gave Judge Boardman the articles of impeachment, accusing her of “undermining federal law” for sentencing Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh’s attempted assassin to eight years in prison—allegedly because of her partiality and biases regarding the would-be assassin’s “gender identity.”
