March of Dimes, a nonprofit organization supporting the health of moms and babies, recently hosted a special Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Care Kit Distribution Event in partnership with Aetna Better Health of Florida as part of World Prematurity Day at HCA Brandon.
According to March of Dimes, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Distribution Kits provide essential care items, emotional support resources, and educational materials to families during their respective NICU journeys. The organization also indicated that the initiative ensures babies have a healthy start and parents feel supported during early infancy.
Both March of Dimes and Aetna Better Health of Florida have long committed to helping families across the Sunshine State. More specifically, the collaboration aims to give patients and families the essential care, comfort, and tools during the early stages of a young child's life.
The organization also acknowledged the challenges and strain that having a newborn might have on parents, saying its supply kits aim to "ease the transition from hospital to home" by giving couples extra support and care from the community.
March of Dimes also reminded parents that they were not alone in their NICU journey and had through the process.
"We are incredibly grateful that with this partnership with Aetna Better Health of Florida, we are able to bring parents much-needed resources during what is an incredibly hectic and scary time," March of Dimes wrote in a release. "While these kits may not ease all of the tension of moving from the hospital to home, it provides items that can make it a bit easier. Together, we hope to provide families with practical items and resources that will be helpful to families during this daunting period of a child's life.”
