Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced he is intervening in a lawsuit challenging the approval of a 2.63-acre parcel of land for the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library near Miami-Dade County's historic Freedom Tower, calling the litigation "bogus."

"Under my authority as Florida’s Chief Legal Officer, our office stepped in yesterday to represent Miami-Dade College in this bogus lawsuit," Uthmeier expressed.

The move by Uthmeier comes one day after Florida Circuit Judge Mavel Ruiz issued a temporary injunction blocking the piece of land, which is currently an employee parking lot for Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus.

According to Fox News, Ruiz ruled that the college's board of trustees did not provide reasonable public notice before their vote, which took place last month.

The lawsuit was filed by Marvin Dunn, a retired Florida International University professor and local South Florida activist who briefly ran for Congress as a Democrat in Florida's 27th District.

According to Dunn, Miami-Dade College, a public institution, was violating Florida law and the public trust by transferring the land for a “private, political purpose.”

Ruiz reportedly agreed with that statement, while also adding that the college didn't give sufficient time to notify the public of their subsequent vote to convey the property for the future library.

Last month, Gov. Ron DeSantis and members of his Florida cabinet voted in favor of designating the parcel of land for the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library, which would be the presidential site of its kind in the state.

Uthmeier is also part of the board, along with Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia and Agriculture Wilton Simpson.

"It was an honor to vote in favor of making Florida the future home of President Trump's Presidential Library," Uthmeier said at the time. "I look forward to the patriotic stories the Trump Library Foundation will showcase for generations to come in the Free State of Florida."
