President Donald Trump has endorsed Agricultural Commissioner Wilton Simpson for reelection to the post in 2026. Simpson, a Republican, was first elected Agricultural Commissioner with nearly 60% of the vote in 2022.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump praised Commissioner Simpson for being "strong and highly popular" in Florida and for being an "America First Patriot." The President also mentioned his popularity in the state, giving Simpson a likely leg up in the race from his 20-point win four years ago.

“Commissioner Wilton Simpson has my Complete and Total Endorsement for Re-Election – HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!” Trump wrote.

"Wilton is a Fifth Generation Floridian, lifelong Egg Farmer, successful Businessman, former President of the State Senate, and now, as Agriculture Commissioner, has served the Sunshine State during a career “loaded up” with accolades and wins," Trump added.

Simpson has not yet officially announced his reelection bid, but an endorsement by Trump might sway his decision. It also might end lingering speculation that he's running for governor.

"Wilton is an incredibly effective Voice for Florida Agriculture, and our amazing Farmers and Ranchers," Trump continued. "He is fighting tirelessly to Grow our Economy, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Champion American Energy DOMINANCE, Promote MADE IN THE U.S.A., Keep our now very Secure Border, SECURE, Stop Migrant Crime, Murderers, and other Criminals from illegally entering our Country, and Protect our always under siege Second Amendment."

Simpson thanked Trump for his endorsement on X.

"I am incredibly honored to have President Trump’s support as we continue working to make Florida safer, more affordable and the envy of the nation," Simpson wrote. "Thank you, Mr. President, for your tremendous leadership and for ALWAYS putting the American people first!"

Earlier this month, Simpson praised the Trump administration for promoting healthy food options for children. He also pledged to continue the policies in Florida, while vowing to take "decisive measures" against possible detractors.

The ag commissioner election is set for Nov. 3, 2026.
