Lt. Gov. Jay Collins criticized California Gov. Gavin Newsom for referring to actions by President Donald Trump under his administraion as a "monarchy" in response to this past weekend's "No Kings Day" protests across the country. The rallies, which included more than 80 events in Florida, drew an estimated 7 million people across the U.S. in defiance of Trump's alleged "authoritative" agenda.

"A 'monarchy' that doesn’t event exist in the United States. Americans don’t buy into the left’s propaganda," Collins wrote on social media. "@GavinNewsom, we know what tyranny is. Some of us didn’t just protest tyranny—we fought it, bled for it, and it will never take root here as long as I live."

Gov. Newsom, whose often Florida's public enemy No. 1, praised the peaceful protest against Trump's "monarchy" over the weekend.

"7 million Americans turned out yesterday to peacefully protest a monarchy. It was the biggest protest the country has ever seen. And despite the GOP’s best efforts to sow hatred and chaos, you stood firm in peace and unity," Newsom said. "That’s what real patriotism looks like."

Lt. Gov. Collins, who was appointed to the post by Gov. Ron DeSantis this summer, traveled to Newsom's state just days into his new job to extradite a illegal alien accused of killing three Floridians in a traffic accident back in August.

Echoing his post, Collins was a Green Beret prior to his political career.

His current boss, Gov. DeSantis, has often traded barbs with Newsom during the governor's term. The pair have also been linked as possible 2028 presidential candidates in recent months.

Like Gov. Newsom, Collins also criticized Senate Democratic Minority Leader Chuck Schumer for celebrating "No King's Day," saying the New York Democrat had it confused with a real holiday.

"Hey @SenSchumer No Kings” day is July 4th!" Collins wrote. "Why do the @TheDemocrats care more about illegals than American Citizens? Also, why are all of your sponsors socialists and communists Comrade??! Do your job and stop playing games."
