TALLAHASSEE, Fl-Paul Renner, a Republican candidate for governor of Florida, released a video this week highlighting his life and career. The video offers a visual journey through his experiences, connecting his military experience, legal career, and leadership in state government.
Paul Renner served as speaker of the Florida House of Representatives from 2022 to 2024. Renner shared moments from his life, including his career and upbringing as the son of a minister and a teacher. He reflects on how these values created a foundation for his decades in public service.
The video opens with a scene depicting a naval ship narrowly avoiding mines hidden in the water. It draws on his military experience as a naval officer during Operation Desert Storm and in Afghanistan, with Renner in profile, standing in front of a portrait of him in military regalia. Later, it shows him in the courtroom and in Congress.
Renner announced his bid for governor on Sept. 3, 2025, marking his first campaign for a statewide office.
“The fight for freedom, common sense, and values we share is an urgent battle. Everything is at stake. You gave us a chance, and we made it happen,” Renner says to the camera in the video.
Renner is a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump, and during his time as speaker, he implemented a number of conservative policies. In an interview with The Floridian, he said he would be “a great partner to President Trump.” Additionally, he worked alongside Gov. Ron DeSantis to advance conservative priorities, including immigration policy and public safety.
One of his main focuses was advocating for parental rights in children’s education and implementing voucher programs to give families more options when selecting schooling, including private education.
Renner’s message in the campaign video emphasizes continuing the work started with DeSantis and maintaining conservative policy advancements.
