Senator Ashley Moody (R-FL) roundly condemned soft-on-crime policies in a recent appearance on Fox News's Ingraham Angle, saying the recently-reported murder of Iryna Zarutska in Charlotte, North Carolina, was the "direct result" of "insane, hypocritical policies."

Sen. Moody further attacked media coverage surrounding the murder as a "MAGA pounces" incident, asking, "How about the guarantee of this country?"

"In fact, when we became a country, it was a core function of the government to protect the security and safety of its people so that we could protect their rights," Sen. Moody continued, adding, "And if a city is not doing that, if a state is not doing that, they are failing its citizens."

The Florida Senator suggested that "What this video shows is that the Dems that are trying to hide this and are in charge of these cities believe that, I guess, the only people that should be safe are the folks that can drive a car or live behind a gate. I mean, how about the people that have to use public transportation? That have to live in these communities and cities?"

"I am just so grateful that there are people like you [host Laura Ingraham] and President Trump and others that are willing to call this out for what it is," Moody said. "It is the direct result of insane policies. They are hypocritical policies because Florida did it completely different. Everything."

She then described various soft-on-crime measures implemented by Governor Roy Cooper (D-NC), and how Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) did the opposite, resulting in spiking crimes in North Carolina while Florida has seen a dramatic decrease.

Ingraham then turned to comments made by CNN's Brian Stelter, who accused Republicans of being "baldly racist" in discussing the Zarutska murder.

Moody responded to Stelter's comments, saying, "We are Americans in this country, and leaders should stand up first and foremost to dedicate resources, brainpower, and strategy to make communities safe. I mean, some of these sanctuary cities have evolved even moreso into sanctuaries for criminals."

Finally, the Senator ripped Democrats such as Governor J.B. Pritzker (D-IL) for refusing federal assistance in handling crime, saying, "If you are going to refuse help from the federal government, from Trump, just because he is president and you do not like him, you should be coming out every single day and saying what resources are you dedicating, what policies are you changing? How are you shifting course and protecting your people?"
