Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R) commented on the progressive response to the death of Charlie Kirk, warning of the proliferation of left-wing groups on college campuses across the U.S.
In an exclusive interview with The Floridian, Rep. Luna criticized Democratic politicians and CNN for “booing” at Kirk’s vigil, calling them “obscene.”
“I think the immediate response from them, a majority of them, you heard the booing, was really, really obscene. And I think until after they saw how the American people reacted to that. They're on damage control," Luna said. "As you saw, CNN edited the clip where I was basically calling them out for what they had done, and they tried to make it look like I was causing issues when I was responding to them booing when I called for a prayer."
Despite her criticisms, however, Luna did commend those who showed up to the vigil, adding how she appreciates their appearances despite ideological differences and how “it's good for everyone to continue to message against violence.”
Commenting on what's igniting the rapid growth of left-wing groups appearing on college campuses in the U.S., she claimed that “there are actual billionaires funding some of these left-wing movements that are not foreign agents and have ties to foreign countries like China.”
“As of right now, our objective is to make sure that foreign governments are not encouraging and funding violent riots and calling for, you know, targeted public assassination," she warned. "I mean, these groups have financial ties to the government of China. So that's not like left-leaning. That's straight up just a foreign government influencing.”
Luna concluded by iterating how “federal funding is not a guarantee,” noting that if there are any professors or classes that are advocating for radical ideologies and attacking any politicians, whether Republican or Democrat, the institution should be put under review to determine whether or not they receive funding.
