Cammack Blasts Democrats for ICE Detention Center Rhetoric

Share

Representative Kat Cammack (R-FL) blasted Democratic rhetoric surrounding Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention centers, including the new "Alligator Alcatraz" in southern Florida, during a recent appearance on Fox News's Faulkner Focus, asking where their sympathy for victims of illegal alien crime is.

Host Harris Faulkner shared a pair of tweets from the House Homeland Security Committee Democrats' page, where they said in the first, "They want a bunch of people… interned…in a camp of some sorts…I wonder what we should call this?" The second said, "Historically, never a bad sign when fascists start building camps."

Rep. Cammack quickly pointed out that the Obama Administration built the supposed "cages" Democrats decry and "have no problem with keeping violent criminals, rapists, and gang members in our community rather than they would see them deported quickly."

"I wish that they cared half as much for the American people as they do for those people that are in this country illegally, committing crimes and taking advantage of a system that is not designed for them," Rep. Cammack continued, adding, "Where is that compassion? Where is the empathy for American citizens that are the victims of these individuals in our country illegally?"

The Florida Congresswoman further challenged Democrats to explain "where they are getting their facts," having personally visited the border multiple times during the Biden Administration, for "clearly, they must have some amnesia."

In mid-June, Representative Greg Steube (R-FL) made similar comments about Democrats' apparent lack of sympathy for victims of crime perpetrated by illegal aliens, saying, "Where were all these tears for the illegal immigrants murdering American citizens? All of the hundreds of thousands of Americans who have died from fentanyl? The known terrorists that have entered our country, the rapists, the murderers, where are the tears for this?"

"It is just sad that they are playing politics with our national security and the safety and security of the American people," Rep. Steube added.
