Representative Vern Buchanan (R-FL) issued a statement praising President Donald Trump's recent announcement of a new trade deal with the European Union (EU), saying, "It's a major win for U.S. industries that will create opportunities and support long-term economic growth on both sides of the Atlantic."

According to a White House fact sheet, provisions of the new trade agreement include the EU investing $600 billion into the United States and buying $750 billion in American energy exports over President Trump's term.

Fox News provided additional details about tariffs, including a baseline of 15% on cars and auto parts, pharmaceuticals, and semiconductors, while a 50% tariff on steel remains in place. Other products, such as aircraft and their parts, specific chemicals and generic drugs, natural resources, and critical materials, will see a zero-for-zero tariff rate.

"President Trump has secured a historic trade agreement with the European Union, once again delivering for the American people, putting our workers, manufacturers and farmers first," said Rep. Buchanan in his press release praising the new deal, adding, "This deal will drive over $1.3 trillion in new investment and expanded market access between the U.S. and the EU."

Rep. Buchanan then referenced his April visit across the EU, meeting with figures such as Romanian interim President Ilie Bolojan and Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, EU Parliament President Roberta Metsola, Moldovan President Maia Sandu, and Greek Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatizidakis about renegotiating trade deals with the United States.

"I had the opportunity to discuss this shared vision during my recent bipartisan delegation trip to the European Union, and I'm proud to see it come to fruition," the Florida Congressman continued. "This agreement strengthens our strategic alliance while advancing an America First trade agenda that delivers jobs and prosperity for hardworking Americans. It's a major win for U.S. industries that will create opportunities and support long-term economic growth on both sides of the Atlantic."
