Representative Brian Mast (R-FL) discussed President Donald Trump's weekend strikes on Iran in a recent appearance on Fox Business's Mornings with Maria, saying the United States and Israel "are in exactly the position we want to be in."

By that, Rep. Mast meant that "no matter what Iran does tomorrow, it will not be responding with kilotons or megatons."

"We know that they have terrorist arms across the region: Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis, they are just as much Iranian military arms as the Quds Force," Rep. Mast continued, adding, "They have always been willing to use them. And if they have a nuclear weapon, there is every belief that they would use that as well. So we are in a successful place today in ensuring that that capability does not exist."

Host Maria Bartiromo asked about Russia's Dmitry Medvedev's recent remarks that "a number of countries are ready to directly supply Iran with their own nuclear warheads," Iran's threat to close the Strait of Hormuz, and potential domestic terror incidents by Iranian proxies.

The Florida Congressman replied that possible domestic terror attacks are "another great reason for all Republicans and Democrats to rally around the Big Beautiful Bill, because if, in fact, under the Biden Administration, all of these people came in across our border illegally, some of them could be members of Iranian cells."

Regarding the closure of the Strait, Mast said, "I think that you can expect that the United States of America will absolutely ensure freedom of navigation across those waters, regardless of what Iran chooses to do in those waters. Obviously, after that point, it is going to be up to the individual corporations what level of comfort they feel with moving their civilian fleets through those waterways."

Finally, in addressing Medvedev's comments, Mast concluded, "I do believe that is a credible threat in part, although I do not think we are at the point right now that Russia is willing to pull that trigger."

Iran has since retaliated with missile strikes on the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, although the projectiles were intercepted, and no casualties were reported.
