Representative Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL) said she was "delighted" by President Donald Trump's executive order to lower prescription drug prices in a recent appearance on Fox Business's Bottom Line. She added that his effort to improve the lives of middle—and working-class Americans "makes him a great leader."

"I am delighted because this is a very important day for the United States," said Rep. Salazar, adding, "In Washington, everybody hears that no one wants to really touch Big Pharma. Well, the new sheriff in town did it, and we really have to applaud him."

Additionally, Rep. Salazar stated that "if this needs to be put into legislation, I will be voting for it first than anyone else."

After all, she claimed that Americans pay up to $100 in insulin medication and $7000 for arthritis medication, while Canadians pay only $12 or $1000, respectively.

The discussion moved to Trump's recent openness to raising taxes on millionaires, which Politico's John Martin said on MSNBC is "taking all of the Democrats' issues away from them," prompting the host to ask the Florida Congresswoman if Martin's analysis was correct.

"Listen, it does not matter who owns the flag," Salazar answered. "The good thing is that we are in Washington, and we got elected, starting with the President and finishing with Congress, to help America and the average American."

As a result, Salazar continued, "So this 'Make America Great Again,' 'Make the Patient Great Again,' the students, the workers, it does not matter. The Dems know that they have no voice, no leader, and no message."

"And I am delighted that President Trump, who comes from that very high billionaire class, is thinking about those who are below him," Salazar concluded, adding, "So that makes him a great leader. And look, he just proved not only with Big Pharma but with the Brits and the Chinese that he can really negotiate when no one else can."
