As Floridians hit the road for the long Memorial Day weekend, they are going to find lower prices at the gas pump than from this time last year.
According to AAA, the average price for a regular gallon of gas in Florida is $3.12. The price at this point last year was $3.56, or a difference of 44 cents.
Florida is also lower than the current national average of $3.20. At this time last year, the average price across the country was $3.61.
For state drivers looking for the best deals this Memorial Day weekend, look to head to the beaches of the Gulf of America along the Florida Panhandle.
In Escambia County, home to Pensacola Beach, the average price for a gallon of gas is $2.81. The price is also similar in Santa Rosa County to the east and further down the Gulf Coast.
Similar low averages can be found in Northeast Florida down to its Space Coast region. St. Johns County, home to St. Augustine, is particularly low at $3.10.
On the flipside, prices remain a bit higher than the state average in South and Southwest Florida.
In Miami-Dade County, the average price for a gallon of gas is $3.16. Broward County is at $3.15, while Palm Beach County is stubbornly high at $3.29.
Across Interstate 75 into Collier County, the average price for a gallon of gas is $3.21. Gas prices are also a bit higher as drivers head north for a possible golf outing up through Tampa Bay in Hillsborough County.
If you're heading to Walt Disney World this weekend, expect to pay a bit more than the state average. The price is $3.17 in Orange County, home to Orlando.
Still, the average price for a gallon of gas at Walt Disney World in Florida is much better than at Disneyland in California. Drivers in Orange County are paying a whopping $4.72 for a gallon of gas and $4.86 on average in the Golden State.
