Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis highlighted the state's effort to execute immigration arrests and enforcement crackdowns on Thursday, an initiative referred to as "Operation Tidal Wave."

"This is the largest operation of its kind in the nation, and we did it here in Florida because I insisted state and local law enforcement agencies provide cooperation and support for immigration enforcement efforts," DeSantis said. "In just one week, Florida's state agencies helped federal authorities to arrest 1,100+ illegal aliens across the state."

According to Gov. DeSantis, the state has removed 378 criminal illegal aliens. Those deported include gang members, sex offenders, fugitives from justice, and individuals who pose significant public safety threats.

The governor noted some of the criminals arrested were also affiliated with MS-13 and Tren De Aragua, two of Central and South America's most notorious street gangs. Others were associated with the Brown Pride Aztecs, Barrio Azteca, Surenos (SUR-13), and 18th Street Gang.

In February, the State Department designated MS-13 and Tren De Aragua as terrorist organizations.

"Florida is leading the nation in illegal immigration enforcement - and this is only the beginning," the flyer said.

Operation Tide Wave has already proved to be successful in Miami-Dade County.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), along with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, seized over 1100 pounds of drugs from a vessel in the county just two days ago.

"Proud to work alongside our state and federal partners during #OperationTidalWave. Teamwork and vigilance make all the difference," the FWC said on the bust.

DeSantis and the Florida Legislature have implemented strong immigration polices since President Donald Trump assumed office in January.

Back in February, he signed a package of anti-illegal immigration measures into law, including deporting aliens who reenter the state illegally. The law led to the arrest of an illegal alien in Brevard County a month later.
