Representative Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) recently discussed progress on the so-called 'big beautiful bill' on Fox Business's Evening Edit, saying its implementation is vital to reigniting the economy. Thus, "failure is not an option."
"I have said it all along, and I know that we have some disagreements around the edges in our conference," Rep. Gimenez added, "We are going to smooth them out, and we are going to pass this bill, and we are going to send it to the Senate, and then they are going to pass it, and then we are going to send it to the President for him to sign. Trust me, it is going to happen."
Host Elizabeth MacDonald noted that predictions of a recession under Trump have flatlined, with inflation and the prices of various goods such as groceries and gas having lowered. "So he is really setting the stage for a real rocket ship up in the economy. Do you think that is going to happen?" She asked.
Rep. Gimenez answered yes, pointing out, "When you do not have any taxes on Social Security or any taxes on overtime and taxes on tips, that actually puts more money into the economy and gets us going."
"Plus," The Florida Congressman continued, "all these unprecedented levels of investment back in America, which, again, adds more jobs, more manufacturing jobs that we need for our own security. I think that is all good news."
MacDonald then pointed to a recent article from The Hill by David McIntosh, who argued that tax cuts could be paid for by ending President Biden's climate handouts. Additionally, McIntosh said that if the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act expires, Americans would suffer the largest tax hike in history.
As a result, Gimenez reiterated the importance of renewing the 2017 tax cuts, adding, "We are not going to be the party that is going to have the largest tax increase in American history. It is not just going to happen."
"And by the way, I love the idea of rescinding all of the stuff that Joe Biden did," Gimenez concluded.
