Conservative activist Laura Loomer repeatedly slammed the election of Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, who will be Pope Leo XIV, as the next head of the Catholic Church on Thursday.
"THIS IS THE NEW POPE! His name is Robert Prevost. He’s the first American Pope. He is anti-Trump, anti-MAGA, pro-open Borders, and a total Marxist like Pope Francis," Loomer said. "Catholics don’t have anything good to look forward to. Just another Marxist puppet in the Vatican."
Prevost was born on Sept. 14, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois. He is the 267th pope and the first to be born in the United States.
Loomer, a popular figure in right-wing media, was not happy with the news.
She criticized the new Pope for praying for George Floyd, an African American man who was murdered by a white police officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 2020.
"The new Pope once retweeted a post about how we need to keep praying for career criminal & drug addict George Floyd. The tweet said, “May all hatred, violence and prejudice be eradicated.” What prejudice? Is that another way to spell FENTANYL OVERDOSE? MARXIST POPE!" Loomer said.
Loomer also blasted him for supporting illegal aliens and open borders. Upon being elected, Pope Leo XIV delivered a message of unity and peace to thousands of people gathered at St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City.
"The new Pope @drprevost supports illegal aliens and open borders. He retweeted tweets in support of “dreamers” aka illegals and attacked President Trump’s use of the phrase “bad hombres” to describe violent illegal aliens," Loomer said. "He thinks it’s a “racist” phrase."
Pope Leo XIV takes over for Pope Francis, who died on April 21.
Known for her bold takes, Loomer is the host of Loomer Unleashed. She is also a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump and ran for U.S. Congress in Florida on two occasions.
"I don’t need to be Catholic to see with my own eyes. There’s nothing to celebrate. What do you want to do? Blow some smoke and cry over a pope who supports mass migration and open borders? Here’s your new “amazing Pope”. Conservatives love losing. They LOVE IT!" Loomer said.
