Congressman and Florida gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds (R-FL) recently picked up a slew of endorsements from high-ranking congressional Republicans in his bid to become the 47th governor of the state next November.
Rep. Donalds was endorsed by:
- House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.)
- House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-Minn.)
- Republican Conference Chair Lisa McClain (R-Mich.)
- House Republican Leadership Chair Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.)
"Thank you @SteveScaliseGOP @tomemmer @LisaForCongress & @EliseStefanik for your support! I’m honored to receive the full endorsement of House Leadership," Donalds said. "Together in Congress, we are working to Make America Great Again & I’ll carry on our America First movement in Tallahassee."
Rep. McClain issued the following statement after her endorsement.
.@BryonDonalds believes in the American Dream because he [has] overcome adversity to achieve it. As Governor, he wants every Floridian to live their American Dream in the Sunshine State, just as he has done," McClain said. "Byron will be the nation’s most pro-Trump governor, bringing down the cost of living, fighting illegal immigration, and supporting economic policies that help families and seniors get ahead."
"Byron Donalds will always put Floridians first, and he has my complete support to be Florida’s next Governor," McClain added.
Along with the backing of House leadership, Donalds has collected a hefty amount of endorsements in his gubernatorial run.
The list includes President Donald Trump and Florida Republican Sen. Rick Scott. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) also endorsed his bid.
Several Florida Congressional Republicans have also backed him.
With the Florida GOP coalescing behind Donalds, it makes you wonder if there is any airspace for another Republican candidate to jump into the race. First Lady Casey DeSantis has been the rumored option, but has not made an official announcement.
The Florida gubernatorial general election will be held on November 3, 2026.
