Republican Brian Hodgers was recently endorsed by the Florida Police Police Benevolent Association in his bid for State House District 32, which covers part of Brevard County.

"Honored to have the support of our law enforcement officers," Hodgers said. "Every day, these brave men and women put on a bulletproof vest and put their lives on the line to protect and serve. They deserve a strong voice in our legislature, and I’m committed to being just that in Tallahassee."

The Florida Police Benevolent Association (PBA) is the largest professional association of law enforcement officers in the state, with about 36,000 members.

In April, Hodgers narrowly defeated Republicans Bob White and Terry Cronin to win the HD 32 GOP primary. Officially, Hodgers earned 35% of the vote to White's 33% and Cronin's 32%.

The seat will become open after the official resignation of Rep. Debbie Mayfield (R-Melbourne) on June 9th. Mayfield is running for Senate District 19, which also includes Brevard County.

If past results are any indication, Hodgers has a good chance of winning the seat over Democrat Juan Hinojosa in the special general election on June 10. Mayfield beat Hinojosa by nearly 29 points in HD 32 last November.

Along with the PBA, Hodgers has been endorsed by the Associated Industries of Florida, Bikers for Trump, Business Voice of Florida's Space Coast, Conservative Watch USA, Florida Chamber of Commerce, Florida Realtors, and Space Coast Association of Realtors.

According to his bio, Hodgers has prioritized securing the border, lowering insurance costs and property taxes, protecting waterways and quality of life, and addressing transportation challenges during his bid.

In addition, he mentioned being a strong advocate for better schools and more parental choice and oversight in children's education.
