Republican Brian Hodgers squeaked past Bob White and Terry Cronin to secure the House District 32 GOP special primary nomination on Tuesday night.

"Congratulations Brian Hodgers on securing the Republican nomination for Florida House District 32. On June 10th we will bring home a huge VICTORY!" the Republican Party of Florida said

According to unofficial results, Hodgers held a two-point voting margin over White (35% to 33%) and a 3-point edge over Cronin's 32% in HD 32. Hodgers will now face Democrat Juan Hinojosa in the special general election on June 10.

HD 32 covers part of Brevard County. Rep. Debbie Mayfield (R-Melbourne) holds the seat until her official resignation on June 9th.

Rep. Mayfield won her State Senate primary bid on Tuesday night.

If all holds serve, Hodgers has a good chance of succeeding Rep. Mayfield in her former seat. Last November, Mayfield defeated Hinojosa by nearly 29 points in HD 32.

President Donald Trump also carried Brevard County at the top of the ticket with 60% of the vote.

According to his bio, Hodgers prioritized securing the border, lowering insurance costs and property taxes, protecting our waterways and quality of life, and addressing transportation challenges in the run-up to the election.

In addition, he mentioned being a strong advocate for better schools and more parental choice and oversight in children's education.

Hodgers also emphasized that he would continue supporting President Donald Trump’s America First agenda and restore "common sense and efficiency to state government." He also noted being pro-life, pro-family, and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association (NRA).

A lifelong conservative and Florida native, Hodgers earned endorsements from the Associated Industries of Florida (AIF), Bikers for Trump, Business Voice of Florida's Space Coast, Conservative Watch USA, Florida Chamber of Commerce, Florida Realtors, and Space Coast Association of Realtors before his win on Tuesday night.
