WASHINGTON—Representative Mike Haridopolos (R-FL) spoke with The Floridian about Democratic resistance to President Donald Trump's border policy, suggesting that their staunch opposition is part of why the Party suffers from record-low approval ratings.

"How you cannot go after the minimum, criminal illegal aliens, is beyond me," said Rep. Haridopolos, adding, "It is the reason why their approval rating is in the 20s. Most Americans are saying this is ridiculous. Not only are [Democrats] allowing them to come in, [and] then they are protecting them under sanctuary city laws to allow criminals to run around the streets and their own neighborhoods, cities they represent, or in some communities where they were the mayor or the governor. Why would they protect a criminal illegal alien?"

Rep. Haridopolos chalked up Democrats' lenience toward criminal illegal aliens to them "allowing a loud, vocal minority to run their policy shop."

"What I have seen historically, I am a history teacher when they run as center-right Democrats, they win. When they become these super [liberal] Democrats from Mike Dukakis on, they lose elections," the Florida Congressman continued.

We asked Haridopolos why he believed Democrats remain leftwing despite recent losses and current favorability ratings, to which he gave the simplest answer: "Because that is where their money comes from."

He also suggested that Democratic fundraising platform ActBlue needs to be investigated because "everybody knows that they are not even checking to see if they are legitimate contributions," a concern raised by Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ) and former Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL).

Moreover, Haridopolos said ActBlue's lax policy is "how they raised $10 million against Randy Fine. This is how they raised $10 million against Jimmy Patronis. All these small-dollar contributions where you are not really being tracked, and this is the reason why a lot of people left ActBlue."

"But look, the Democrats are run by more and more leftwing organizations. You are seeing these coordinated activities around the country led by George Soros. You are seeing the videos online saying, 'We will pay you to protest.' These people are trying to create chaos, trying to make it seem like people are pushing back against DOGE. Most every person I talk to says, 'How do we not want DOGE?" the Florida Congressman added.

He compared DOGE's efforts to your bank freezing suspicious transactions, asking why nobody would want to remain clueless as to how their money is spent.

"And the fact that they are fighting against it tells you a lot about what they stand for," Haridopolos concluded.
