Representative Greg Steube (R-FL) discussed the House Intelligence Committee's hearing with Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, and FBI Director Kash Patel about the leaked Signal chat in a recent appearance on Fox News's Will Cain Show, saying the three "made it very clear that this was not war plans."
Rep. Steube described thoroughly questioning Gabbard, Ratcliffe, and Patel, asking, "Were there sources?" Were there methods? Were there locations disclosed? And they confirmed that there was not. Was there a unit? Was there all of these different details that would make it classified? And there was not. And they made it very clear that this was not war plans like the Democrats wanted to say."
"At the bottom line, we have terrorists that are no longer on this planet thanks to the leadership of President Trump and his team that he has put in place to attack people that are attacking ships in international waters," Rep. Steube continued, referring to the Houthis, the target of the attack supposedly discussed in the Signal chat.
The Florida Congressman further ripped the Biden Administration for having "did nothing about it" when the Houthis began attacking international shipping in the Red Sea since the October 7th, 2023 terror attack in Israel, but now that President Donald Trump is in charge, "we finally have an administration that is willing to stand against terrorism and fight for an America First agenda."
Host Will Cain agreed with Steube's sentiment, pointing out how Democrats have downplayed the deaths of 13 American servicemembers at Abbey Gate in 2021, but nevertheless said the recent Signal incident will mean "changes made so that communication like this is never, ever, at a minimum, leaked to a journalist from the Atlantic."
Steube pointed out that Trump and National Security Adviser Mike Waltz have already stated they will change communication methods. The latter has taken responsibility for mistakenly including Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg, the journalist who was included in the chat and later leaked it.
