Fresh from cofounding the House Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Caucus, Representative Aaron Bean (R-FL) is now set to join the House Ways and Means Committee in the upcoming Congress, saying, "Let's go get 'em."
The House Ways and Means Committee is the oldest and most influential committee in the lower Chamber of Congress. It has served as the chief tax-writing committee since 1789 and, since 1865, has expanded to decide other revenue-raising measures, as well as tariffs, reciprocal trade agreements, the bonded debt of the United States, the revenue side of Social Security, Medicare, and other social services since the 20th century.
In his acceptance statement, Rep. Bean referenced Ways and Means Chair Jason Smith (R-MO), saying, "It is a tremendous honor to serve on the Ways and Means Committee. With a $36 trillion debt, historically high inflation, and the largest pending tax increase in history, this is a critical time for our nation. I am eager to work with Chairman Smith and the Committee to advance a bold agenda that supports working families, lowers taxes, and accelerates our economy. Let's go get 'em."

Additionally, Rep. Smith said, "I want to extend a warm welcome to Representative Aaron Bean to the Ways and Means Committee. As mentioned, Rep. Bean recently cofounded the DOGE Caucus, which will work with the incoming Department of Government Efficiency to reduce government waste and scale back the federal government's size.
In comments to The Floridian, Bean expressed eagerness to contribute to DOGE's efforts, telling us, "There is no wrong answer on where to start, where to begin, what to cut. Certainly, I am a fan of low-hanging fruit, but we have to recognize that in over 25 years, there has not been not only a balanced budget, but there has not been any budget. We have been operating on continuing resolutions, and that does not give us a chance to review what our priorities are as a country; we just set it and forget it."
