President-elect Donald Trump has vowed to deport upwards of 10 million illegal aliens who have entered the country under the Biden-Harris Administration, a task Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) said would not be as difficult as it sounds in a recent appearance on Fox News's Sunday Morning Futures.
Rep. Donalds began by emphasizing that President-elect Trump has a "mandate" to enact his agenda because of his electoral victory, which includes seeing the mass deportation of illegal aliens, lambasting Democrats such as governors of states who have announced opposition to the deportations as having "a Marie Antoinette view of America."
Host Maria Bartiromo asked how such an effort would be accomplished, to which he replied, "First, you start with criminal illegal aliens. They are easy to identify. Working with law enforcement agencies all across the country, Tom Holman and his team, along with Secretary [Kristy] Noem (R-SD) in the Department of Homeland Security, will be able to get those people out of our country very, very quickly."
"Then you have to move people where you have deportation orders that have been given to them, but they simply have not left. You move to that group of people, to a secondary level. Again, dealing with [Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)], local law enforcement. In my district in Southwest Florida, our local sheriffs are more than prepared to use the 287(g) program to help remove these people from the United States. That is how you do it. I think the hyperbole of using the military, we are nowhere close to that, probably won't even need to do that because the truth is, once you start deportation proceedings, illegal immigrants understand as well," Rep. Donalds continued.
The Florida Congressman suggested that the remaining illegal aliens will begin to "self-deport," leaving the country before being caught by ICE and other authorities.
"They do not want to be caught in our country and have to be deported by ICE because if you are, then you are barred from returning to the United States for a decade. So I think you are going to see a lot of self-deportation once this process begins," Donalds concluded.
