In his acceptance speech Wednesday morning, President-elect Donald Trump called for unity and healing, doubling as a call for bipartisan cooperation in Congress. Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) gave his take on what policies will bring Democrats and Republicans together in a recent appearance on ABC News, saying, "Success breeds unity, and that success is going to be the success of the American people."

Rep. Donalds posted the clip to X (formerly Twitter), where he added, "Shared success under President Trump will help us UNITE. A Secure Border BENEFITS ALL. Safe Communities BENEFIT ALL. Energy Dominance BENEFITS ALL. A Booming Economy BENEFITS ALL. Peace Through Strength BENEFITS ALL. Together, we will Make America Great Again for ALL AMERICANS."

Within the clip, Rep. Donalds offered more specific areas of policy he hoped Democrats would come to the table on, the first of which was tax reform.

"First and foremost, I think it is time to acknowledge that our colleagues on the other side of the aisle, although they like to talk about the Donald Trump tax cuts, they did not do anything when they were in power to get rid of them. So I would fully expect that is something where Republicans and Democrats can come together and have a tax agenda in the United States that helps the American people," the Florida Congressman detailed.

Second, Donalds suggested energy independence and dominance should be a bipartisan issue.

"I would hope that there are some Democrats on the other side of the aisle who will agree with us because getting solar panels and windmills from China is not saving the planet because they are dirty when it comes to mining [and] they are dirty when it comes to energy exploration. We are the cleanest when it comes to developing energy in the entire world, and I hope they will join us," he continued.

Finally, he called for Democrats to "realize that an open borders policy that overwhelms our country is simply not popular, and I hope that they would see what the will of the voters was last night and join us in securing the homeland [and] securing our country."

"I believe that success, like Donald Trump says, success is what breeds unity, and that success is going to be the success of the American people," Donalds concluded.
