This morning, Florida Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell's (D) campaign made a big announcement. The campaign released a video, showing that President Barack Obama (D) has endorsed her for the senate. In the video, President Obama shares why Floridians should vote for Rep. Mucarsel Powell, adding that she will make "life better" in the sunshine state.
The senatorial hopeful has enlisted a tremendous endorsement from the Democratic Party as Rep. Mucarsel-Powell has shared a message of support from President Obama.
In 2008 and 2012, I volunteered for President @BarackObama’s campaign. Now, I’m honored to have his support to become Florida’s next U.S. Senator. This election is about Florida’s future, and I’m ready to fight for it. Si se puede! pic.twitter.com/ZgvENskVAp

In the video shared, President Obama makes it clear that electing Rep. Mucarsel-Powell to the senate is crucial in November. "Debbie grew up under a dictatorship and came to America to find freedom and a chance to do better," President Obama shares. "She went from working in a donut shop for minimum wage to serving in Congress," he adds.
As a senator, the former president affirms that Rep. Mucarsel-Powell would "protect social security and Medicare, defend abortion rights, and lower your taxes." Because of this, Floridians are urged to "elect a woman who will make your life better and fight for freedoms like the right to choose."
"Debbie's story isn't typical, but then again, neither was mine," President Obama expresses.
Polls have shown Florida Senator Rick Scott (R) in the lead, but Rep. Mucarsel-Powell is close behind in support.
The Florida that President Obama carried in 2008 and 2012 is a different state than the one that President Donald Trump (R) carried in 2016 and 2020, but the former Democratic president is looking to leverage the state in favor of ousting Senator Scott from the senate.
Rep. Mucarsel-Powell shared President Obama's video on social media, recounting that she had volunteered to help elect President Obama in both 2008 and 2012. The former president however did not address if he would be attending campaign events with the senatorial hopeful.
