President Joe Biden’s comments during a video conference call in which he appears to call former President Donald Trump’s supporters “garbage” have incited controversy.
“The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters,” said President Joe Biden when referring to antecedent comments made about Puerto Rico at President Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally.
Conservative lawmakers and Trump supporters have condemned the statement.
US Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) criticized Biden during a rally in Pennsylvania last night, requesting an apology for the comments.
“I hope the (Biden) campaign is about to apologize for what Joe Biden just said, we are not garbage we are patriots,” said Senator Rubio.
Biden just called anyone who supports Trump “garbage”

President Biden responded by alleging his comments did not refer to Trump supporters generally.
“Earlier today I referred to the hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico spewed by Trump's supporter at his Madison Square Garden rally as garbage—which is the only word I can think of to describe it,” claimed Biden. “His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable. That's all I meant to say. The comments at that rally don't reflect who we are as a nation.”
Biden’s comments come in the closing days of campaign season, where any positive or negative influence could have substantial impact on the nearing election’s outcome.
In Florida, the Republican Party of Florida condemned the statement and reminded its rank and file members that Hillary Clinton once called Republicans 'Deplorables" before losing her race to Trump in 2016.
Joe Biden must be off his medications. He just called Trump supporters “garbage," which is easily half the population of the United States of America –– and the electorate he represents. With the way the polls are looking, you would think Democrats would want to "woo" us, not trash us. How the Democrats think this will help Kamala’s flailing campaign is beyond us.
"Remember when Hillary Clinton called Trump supporters 'deplorable?,'" said Chairman Evan Power. "Well that backfired and it is going to backfire for Kamala."
"Biden calling Trump supporters 'garbage' is 'deplorables' 2.0. Kamala Harris must demand Joe Biden apologize for offending half of America and dividing our nation further."
"Biden and Kamala are out of touch and clearly do not understand the hardships caused by their inflationary economic policies and open border that has weakened our national security."
"President Trump is the proven leader and patriot we need. We can’t wait to send him back to the White House."
Currently, polls demonstrate a tight election with razor thin margins, although Trump is predicted to emerge victorious.
Recent surveys by AtlasIntel show Trump has slight leads over Vice President Kamala Harris in the crucial swing states of Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Michigan, and Georgia.
Yet the race is still winnable by any candidate, as both candidates are within the margin of error for any poll.
