DORAL, Fla. - Doral City Council Seat 3 candidate Irina Vilarino recently announced she has picked up a string of endorsements from Florida Sen. Rick Scott and U.S. Reps. Carlos Gimenez, R-Fla., and Mario Diaz-Balart, R-Fla.

"Senator Scott is the model for the politician I aspire to be. A man who came from humble beginnings and has never lost touch with who he is or where he came from all while accomplishing unimaginable success in the private sector, and yet being a selfless public servant, the great love for this amazing country that has led to be what it is - great," Vilarino said on social media.

Florida's junior United States Senator, Scott praised Vilarino as being "deeply invested in the Doral community." He also lauded her commitment to making Doral a better place for families like hers.

"I am beyond grateful for his endorsement. I will continue to work hard to reach his level of effectiveness and leadership," Vilarino added.

Representing Florida's 28th congressional district, Gimenez called Vilarino a "dear friend" who embodies the American dream. He also applauded her work as a small business owner and job creator in the City of Doral.

"We've all dined at the Vilarino's iconic Las Vegas restaurants and know she'll bring her business savvy, dedication, and hard work to the Doral Council," Gimenez said. "I urge my friends in joining us in supporting our next Doral Councilwoman Irina Vilarino."

Diaz-Balart also commended Vilarino's business acumen after fleeing from socialist Cuba in 1980.

"Her experience as a business owner and involved community member would make her a great addition to the Doral City Council," Diaz-Balart said. "That is why I'm proud to endorse Irina for Doral City Council."

Running against Juan Carlos Esquivel and Nicole Reinoso, the Doral City Council election is Nov.5.
