The attempt on former President Donald Trump's life continues to provoke demands for transparency and claims of conspiracies at play from the American public. Representative Cory Mills (R-FL) spoke with CNN's Kate Bolduan during the Republican National Convention about the numerous security failures present during the Butler, Pennsylvania rally as a combat veteran, adding that an independent Congressional investigation should prepare to ask an uncomfortable question: were the security failures on purpose?
Trending Politics co-owner Collin Rugg posted the clip to X (formerly Twitter), noting how Bolduan was visibly uncomfortable with Rep. Mills discussing the possibility. However, he did not explicitly endorse the theory that the attempt on Trump's life was an "inside job." Still, he said an independent Congressional investigation, a "J13" select committee, should leave no stone unturned and ensure full transparency about the day's events.
JUST IN: CNN host loses it after former US Army sn*per Cory Mills suggests the July 13 assas*ination attempt on Trump *could have been* a setup.
Holy sh*t.
Mills explained how everything about the incident made no sense.

"Here is my problem," Rep. Mills said, "In having done this for so long, they always say the adage of 'Ignorance is bliss,' and I think that is true. I have done thousands of advances, I have done thousands of counter-sniper operations with our teams in Iraq and Afghanistan, etcetera. The amount of negligence, the amount of mistakes that were made here, I have a very difficult time not leaning myself towards, 'this was intentional' as opposed to fecklessness."
Mills reiterated that he "did not want to be the conspiracist" and make the accusation, only "that investigation is necessary at this point within Congress, not just the FBI, not just others."
Moreover, he said he was "just looking at all of the different possible capabilities" and stressed the importance of investigating everything that went wrong so it would not happen again.
"This is not a political thing. This is about [how] we had an attempt to assassinate a president. We really need to understand what a serious matter this is. And this was a milliseconds per millimeter difference between this being an attempt and this being an assassination," Mills continued.
Bolduan reminded the Florida Congressman that he was an elected official and should not endorse conspiracy theories, which he said he was not.
"I think if we let the American people know that we are questioning these things as well, it puts them at rest or at least know, 'why aren't they at least looking into this one?' We should look at every single situation which is this significant. We should look at it from multiple angles to ensure that nothing is left out [and] nothing could be potentially be claimed as being covered up and we need to have more transparency to the American people. And I think that is what everyone deserves," Mills concluded.
