Marco Rubio Outlines Priorities as VP Talks Intensify

Share

After the first presidential debate, the future of President Joe Biden's (D) candidacy is up in the air. With President Donald Trump (R) emerging victorious, the question of who his vice presidential pick will be lingers. Names like Florida Rep. Byron Donalds (R) and North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum (R) have floated around, but one other name has emerged as the likeliest candidate. Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R) has outlined his priorities on social media in an effort to "make American a thriving and prosperous nation again."

On social media, Senator Rubio highlighted that he intends to rebuild America, restore normalcy, and secure America.

In Rebuilding America, Senator Rubio argues that "America needs to be a country that makes things again if we want to be strong and safe," which includes creating American jobs, protecting medicare for seniors, and lowering tuition costs.

In Restoring Normalcy, he argues that Americans should "be proud of America, because it is the greatest country on Earth." To restore normalcy, Senator Rubio argues that he will fight for traditional values, end woeness, and restore the American Dream.

In Securing America, the Florida lawmaker argues that "our open border is creating chaos and destroying communities." Through concerns like drugs, human trafficking, and terrorists, he warns that they "all represent a threat to America." To secure America, Senator Rubio argues he's committed to putting Americans first, closing our borders, and standing up to Communist China.

While the announcement could be seen as a reminder of what his focus is as a senator, he has emerged as a top choice for President Trump's vice presidential pick. Given that his priorities are similar to President Trumps' own presidential platform, political pundits question if the former 2016 presidential candidate could join Trump on the ticket.

President Trump has not announced his vice presidential pick, and the only names he has mentioned as good candidates are Rep. Donalds and South Carolina Senator Tim Scott (R). The 2024 Republican National Convention will take place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from July 15-18.
