Haridopolos Stands Alone at Primary Debate on Contraceptive Bill, Receives Applause From Pro-Life Group

Share

U.S. House of Representatives hopeful Mike Haridopolos (R) stood alone in defiance when asked if he would support the Right to Contraception Act during WESH 2’s CD 8 Republican primary debate. His opponents, John Hearton and Joe Babits raised their hands in support of the pro-abortion measure when asked if they would vote for the bill.

However, the Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America group has condemned the bill, saying it “seeks to bail out the abortion industry, trample conscience rights, and require uninhibited access to dangerous chemical abortion drugs.” The organization even went as far as to rename the bill as “The Payouts to Planned Parenthood Act.”

The group applauded Haridopolos for standing firm while his counterparts said they would’ve voted for the bill.

“Mike Haridopolos is right. The Payouts to Planned Parenthood Act must be opposed. It’s a misleading bill to funny $ to abortion giant [Planned Parenthood) & create a right to abortion drugs. Thank you Mike for standing strongly for pro-life taxpayers in the #FL08 primary,” said SBA Pro-Life America on social media.

In defense of the other candidates, it appeared they did not know the contents of the bill and decided to endorse it based on the name of it alone. But that is not a sound political strategy, and begs to question if they are ready to join the congressional ranks in Washington.

Haridopolos has received the endorsement of a lot of high-ranking political figures from the state of Florida, including the biggest politician of all, former President Donald Trump (R).

Reps. Greg Steube, Cory Mills, Michael Waltz, Byron Donalds, and many more, including Senators Rick Scott and Marco Rubio, have openly endorsed Haridopolos' candidacy.

Trump said this on Truth Social in June:

“Mike Haridopolos will be a fantastic Representative for Florida’s 8th Congressional District! Mike has a strong record of success and incredible support from his Community. In Congress, he will Fight Inflation, Grow our Economy, Secure our Border, Support our Military/Vets, Champion American Energy Independence, and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment. Mike Haridopolos has my Complete and Total Endorsement. HE WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN!”

The Republican primary race will occur on August 20.
