Gimenez Endorses Marco Rubio for Vice President

Share

After a resounding call this week for voters to stand behind President Donald Trump (R) during Tuesday's rally, Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R) has hinted at his role as vice president. From political foes to friends, the two are poised to work together for the Republican Party, and they’re not the only two that feel their partnership will be fruitful. Florida Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R) has endorsed Senator Rubio, calling him a "great vice-presidential pick."

Senator Rubio spoke during President Trump's Tuesday rally in Doral, urging voters to support President Trump and oust the Biden-Harris Administration. During President Trump's speech, he spoke highly of Senator Rubio, commenting that he needed laws to be passed and that Senator Rubio likely wouldn't be in the Senate to help them be passed.

Though nothing was confirmed, many attendees picked up on the verbal hints, and now Rep. Gimenez is sharing his support for a hypothetical Trump-Rubio ticket.

During an interview with Fox News, the Florida lawmaker was asked about President Trump praising Senator Rubio. Rep. Gimenez similarly praised the Florida senator, noting that he would bolster the Republican base.

"Marco Rubio would be a great vice-presidential pick. I’ve known him for a long time. He’ll bring more Hispanics to the Republican Party. He will add to the base, and I think he will make a great vice president if he’s chosen by President Trump," Rep. Gimenez said.

Speculation has reached a tipping point after numerous individuals were reported to have been on a shortlist for the vice presidential spot. Such individuals were reported to have been Florida Rep. Byron Donalds (R), North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum (R), South Carolina Senator Tim Scott (R), and even Tucker Carlson.

His vice presidential pick will be formally nominated during the Republican National Convention (RNC). The RNC begins on Monday in Milwaukee.
