Port St. Lucie—Florida is in the throws of the 2024 political primary season and as expected, dirty tricks are at play, as St. Lucie County Sheriff candidate, City of Port St. Lucie Police Chief Richard Del Toro, had one of his campaign signs vandalized.
Campaign signs are the target of rival campaigns, and are usually stolen or just torn up, but in Del Toro’s case, someone painted what appears to be a bullet hole with blood oozing out of it from Del Toro’s forehead.
According to Florida statute 479.21, “Willfully or maliciously removing, destroying, damaging, or altering permitted signs” is a misdemeanor offense.
Could this apparent depiction of Del Toro getting shot in the forehead be investigated by law enforcement?
Del Toro, who was recently cleared of a Hatch Act violation, is currently running against DeSantis-appointed St. Lucie County Sheriff Keith Pearson.
The Pearson campaign has also notified us that they have also had signs vandalized.
