Florida Rep. María Elvira Salazar (R) is celebrating the first anniversary of the bipartisan Dignity Act. Introduced alongside Texas Rep. Veronica Escobar (D), the Dignity Act continues to gain support in the hopes of fixing immigration concerns.

The Dignity Act, introduced in May of 2023, has gained the support of more than 35 legislators, and it has also received endorsements from over 50 organizations.

The recent executive order from President Joe Biden (D), which protects undocumented spouses from U.S. citizens, is guided by a measure included in the Dignity Act. The measure comes from Rep. Escobar's American Families United Act, which was included as part of the Dignity Act.

Both Rep. Salazar and Rep. Escobar cite the bipartisan effort as the only viable legislation in Congress that would address "all aspects of our broken immigration system." According to a press release from Rep. Salazar's office, these concerns include "securing the border, ending catch and release, fixing our asylum system, providing a practical solution for the undocumented, and modernizing our legal immigration system."

In a statement, Rep. Salazar shared her pride in "the significant momentum the Dignity Act has gained since Rep. Escobar and I introduced this bill a year ago," and she affirmed that "the Dignity Act is the only way forward Congress has on immigration." "To solve our southern border and immigration crisis, Congress must come together to pass this legislation now!"
