Mills Mocks Claim by MSNBC Analyst that Criticizing NY Trump Trial is 'Racist'

Former President Donald Trump's unprecedented conviction on all counts in his New York "hush money" trial has faced allegations of being coordinated by the Biden White House. MSNBC legal analyst Lisa Rubin claimed this collusion was somehow "racist" because District Attorney Alvin Bragg is Black. Representative Cory Mills (R-FL) mocked Rubin's claim in a recent appearance on Fox Business's Evening Edit, noting that these are the "MSDNC's" only weapons in the face of contrary opinions.

Appearing on Morning Joe, Rubin specifically said the claims by Trump that Biden coordinated the conviction through former Department of Justice official Matthew Colangelo were "dangerously and perniciously racist because it assumes that D.A. Alvin Bragg, who is Black, could not have executed this prosecution on his own without the supervision of a bunch of white elders."

Host Lisa MacDonald asked Rep. Mills if anyone believed this or if Rubin was projecting her opinion as fact.

"That is exactly what it is," Rep. Mills answered, mockingly referring to MSNBC as "the MSDNC" as he continued, "Whenever they actually get trumped on legal analysis by some of the most thought-provoking individuals, they try to immediately run to either racism or bigotry or fascism as their scapegoat."

The Florida Congressman then pointed to the various pieces of evidence supporting claims of the trial's rigged nature, noting that DA Bragg ran on going after the former President and Judge Juan Merchan's daughter Loren was profiting from the case by raising campaign funds for Democrat candidates.

Additionally, Mills claimed that as he sat in the courtroom in a gesture of solidarity with Trump, Judge Merchan would allow the prosecution to object without overruling, even when it was not germane, yet overrule the defense's objections.

"[Merchan] was not putting his thumb on the scale of justice; he was throwing it out in its entirety. We know who is benefitting," said Mills.

On Monday, Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) spearheaded a letter accusing Attorney General Merrick Garland of being complicit in the Trump conviction, saying, "The conviction of President Trump in Manhattan is nothing short of the evisceration of the American judicial process."
