Florida Democrats Unite in Support of Biden Executive Order on Illegal Immigration

Share

Florida Democrats are unequivocally commending President Joe Biden’s recent executive order his administration claims is designed to keep immigrant families together.

The executive order was signed days after President Biden signed another one aimed at securing the southern border.

The most recent executive order will exempt illegal immigrants who are children of, or married to, US citizens from having to depart the US in order to receive legal permanent residency.

Such a measure is estimated to impact 50,000 underage illegal immigrants.

Additionally, the executive order will strengthen DACA by easing college-graduate DACA recipients’ ability to receive work permits.

US Representative Shelia Cheriflus McCormick (D-FL) praised the order, claiming it was a step in the right direction towards necessary immigration law reform.

“I commend President Biden for announcing a plan to keep American families together and enable more young people to contribute to the economy,” said Representative McCormick. “This action underscores the importance of family cohesion and economic vitality.”

US Representatives Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) and Maxwell Alejandro Frost (D-FL) similarly celebrated Biden’s immigration initiatives.

“It’s great to see @POTUS take steps to protect undocumented loved ones, bringing hope and stability to so many families,” proclaimed Representative Frost. “Sensible actions like this make it easier for folks to navigate our complex, broken immigration system and thrive!”

Representative Schultz also criticized Republicans for their alleged politicization of the ongoing border crisis.

“While Trump and his extremist lackeys in Congress seek to politicize and maximize border chaos and block all reforms, President Biden is taking strong, decisive action to fix our broken immigration system,” claimed Schultz.

Republicans have consistently criticized Biden’s immigration agenda and most recently attacked the latter after eight suspected ISIS members crossed into the US through the southern border.

Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) joined a letter to Biden on the matter and publicly ridiculed Biden’s border policies as “a gimmick.”
