The president's cognitive ability has been a black cloud hovering over him during his time in office. The conversation surrounding his health has escalated in recent weeks as the president prepares to debate President Donald Trump (R). Amidst discussions of his performance during the debate, President Joe Biden's (D) campaign has announced that he will not take a drug test ahead of tonight's event.

In recent weeks, President Trump has addressed the concern that President Biden will not be coherent during the debate, claiming that the incumbent president will take performance-enhancing drugs. Though the Biden campaign has dodged the question of President Biden taking such drugs, President Trump has challenged him to a drug test with President Trump agreeing to take a test as well. However, responding to the call for a drug test, the Biden campaign has shared that the incumbent president will not do so.

"Donald Trump is so scared of being held accountable for his toxic agenda of attacking reproductive freedom and cutting Social Security that he and his allies are resorting to desperate, obviously false lies," a Biden campaign spokesman told the Hill.

Republicans have echoed President Trump's remarks concerning the incumbent president's cognitive ability, but Republicans like former Republican National Committee spokesperson Tim Miller (R) question why President Trump is concerned with such a thing.

Commenting that President Trump is worried about how the upcoming debate is framed, Rep. Miller attributed this as the reason why President Trump is "doing all the weird stuff about Joe Biden being on drugs." "It's worth reminding everybody that he tried this exact same playbook in 2020."

Conservative Commentator Laura Loomer, who's previously challenged Florida Rep. Lois Frankel (R) for her House seat, is instead warning that President Biden refusing to take a drug test "is essentially confirmation that Joe Biden is going to have drugs injected into him ahead of the debate."
