The 2026 gubernatorial “Battle of the Coif” showdown between Rep. Matt Gaetz (R) and State Senator Jason Pizzo (D) may have just witnessed the first salvo of gel-slinging.
In response to Rep. Gaetz’s weekend “I Love Florida” post on “X,” Sen. Pizzo posted, “#PromNight,” which is an obvious dig at the pink sports blazer Rep. Gaetz is wearing in the picture he posted.
Both men are rumored to be interested in running for governor in 2026, with Gaetz recently saying that he enjoys his current job in the House of Representatives, while Pizzo has kept his 2026 cards close to his chest.
Gaetz, who has the best hairdo in the House, and Pizzo, whose coif is second to no one in the Florida Senate, not even to Sens Blaise Ingoglia, Jay Collins, and Shevrin Jones, who all sport a very cropped and shiny look.
It’s still too early to speculate, but who cares, right?
Who swings the bigger comb, Pizzo or Gaetz?
Could Floridians bear witness to an epic Aqua Net Super Hold vs. Aussie Intense Freeze political divide in the 2026 mid-term election?
If he runs, Gaetz’s conservative bona fides make him a favorite to win the nomination, while Pizzo, who probably spends as much time as Gaetz on his hair every day, is the most centrist Democrat in the Florida Legislature, could be the last white hope Florida Democrats have to break the Republican gubernatorial winning streak it enjoys.
Considering how shallow their bench is, Florida Democrats better hope Pizzo runs for governor.
Oh, and let’s not forget the million voter registrations Republicans hold in the state. Pizzo is not concerned about the voter registration advantage Republicans have.
Republicans have a deeper bench—Reps. Michael Waltz and Byron Donalds, Attorney General Ashley Moody, CFO Jimmy Patronis, and AG Commissioner Wilton Simpson.
And let's just put it out there. Rep. Jared Moskowitz will not run for governor in 2026,
