Steube Sounds Alarm on 30,000 Chinese Border Crossers Since October

Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) released a report over the weekend showing an alarming trend. Since October, over 30,000 Chinese nationals have been encountered at the southern border, spiking fears their intentions are not benign. Representative Greg Steube (R-FL) discussed the surge in a recent appearance on Fox and Friends First, concluding that only the reelection of former President Donald Trump will solve the crisis.

Rep. Steube reiterated, "China is the number one national security threat to the United States. It would not be surprising that your enemies are going to look for ways to thwart your defenses. Why not send 30,000 people, military-age males, operatives into the United States because the entire world knows that our border is wide open?"

Since President Biden's term in office began, 20,000 Chinese nationals have crossed the border, making the surge to 30,000 in eight months more concerning. Not only is the notoriously deadly fentanyl frequently manufactured in China and sent to Mexico to be smuggled into the United States, but criminal organizations are aiding the Mexican drug cartels in laundering money.

Thus, Rep. Steube was doubtful these 30,000 were arriving for benign reasons, saying, "It is over 50,000 Chinese Communist Party individuals in our country that I am sure are communicating with one another."

Moreover, the Florida Congressman pointed out that individuals from other adversarial countries, such as Russia, Afghanistan, and Iran, have crossed the border illegally because "our enemies see the failures of Joe Biden at the southern border and the failures of him on national security issues and see this as an opening to get operatives in the country."

However, Steube chastised Biden for not taking action, yet "in fact, he is encouraging it."

Host Todd Piro asked what could be done about the border in light of these disturbing trends, only for Steube to answer, "We are not going to be able to do anything until Donald Trump is elected President in November and takes office in January." Steube further blasted Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) for not holding a vote on H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act, passed by the House last May.
