Donalds Introduces Resolution Supporting Local Law Enforcement During National Police Week

Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) has introduced his 78^th bill to the 118^th Congress, the Southwest Florida Law Enforcement Support Resolution. The bill is designed to recognize the “unseen sacrifices and countless contributions of the Southwest Florida law enforcement community.”

Rep. Donalds released a statement regarding his bill which was introduced during National Police Week. He is also looking to pass his 15^th bill during the 118^th Congress.

“There are nearly 4,000 law enforcement officers throughout Lee and Collier counties, who maintain an unwavering commitment to keep our Southwest Florida community safe,” said Rep. Donalds. “This National Police Week, I am proud to honor these brave men and women who work tirelessly to enforce the rule of law with consistent integrity and valor on behalf of our community.”

According to Donalds’ press release, the bill expresses “sincere appreciation and gratitude” for law enforcement and “recognizes that law enforcement officers are heroes within the Southwest Florida community.”

Moreover, earlier this month, Donalds recently cosigned a letter issued by Representative Beth Van Duyne (R-TX) demanding investigations of visa fraud perpetrated by college administrators to protect international students who participated in illegal activity during recent anti-Israel protests and encampments.

Among the notable incidents perpetrated by protesters include the occupation of Hamilton Hall at Columbia University, which the New York City Police forcibly cleared. At the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA), a large brawl broke out between pro-Palestine protesters and pro-Israel counter-protesters, which included incidents of throwing fireworks.

More ominously, police in Austin, Texas, discovered caches of weapons, including firearms, hidden by students and professional agitators at the University of Texas protests.

In his press release, Rep. Donalds said, "Universities have failed to apply consequences to foreign students who are in the United States on limited educational visas. I stand with Rep. Beth Van Duyne in demanding that U.S. Customs and Border Protection investigate any possible cases of visa fraud regarding those involved in recent illegal activity on America's campuses. If you are not a U.S. citizen and you commit crimes in this country, your visa should be revoked."
