Potential Wasserman Schultz Challenger Bryan Leib Accuses Her of Turning Back on Israel

Share

Has Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) turned her back on the State of Israel? While she has been markedly supportive of the Jewish State, her new potential Republican challenger in November, Bryan Leib, has accused her of enabling anti-Israel voices in the Democratic Party and approving of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), AKA the Iran Nuke Deal.

The Floridian received exclusive comments from Leib, who said that he is "strongly considering a late entry into the Republican Primary for Florida's 25th Congressional District with the ultimate goal of defeating Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz in November."

Additionally, Leib accused Rep. Wasserman Schultz of not calling out prominent anti-Israel Democrats Representatives Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) for their rhetoric seemingly supporting the terror organization Hamas.

However, the Florida congresswoman did condemn Rep. Tlaib's utterance of the infamous Hamas rallying cry, "from the river to the sea," in November, saying, "This phrase means eradicating Israel and Jews. Period. Dressing it up in a new PR ploy won’t change that. Only a return of hostages, eliminating Hamas, and liberating Gaza from oppressive terror will save civilian lives and secure the peace, justice, and dignity you seek."

Earlier that month, Wasserman Schultz also voted in favor of a foreign aid package prioritizing Israel that passed the House that removed humanitarian aid for Gaza, which she condemned as "poison," yet voted for it anyway as a Jewish woman and Zionist.

More recently, Wasserman Schultz called for Hamas to accept a ceasefire agreement in March but also mentioned that "Israel is not at the table but that they’ve agreed in principle to what the proposal is on the table. I’m not completely privy to the details of that but the contours include a six-week pause and release of hostages in phases."

In the rest of his statement, Leib said Wasserman Schultz "has also carried the water of the Biden Administration and has never once pushed back against the Administration's actions to unfreeze billions to the Mullahs of Tehran and their double talk diplomacy regarding Israel's mission to eradicate Hamas."

More damningly, he added, "Many moderate Democrats in FL25 have not forgotten that Debbie used her "Jewish heart" to cast a vote in support of the Obama-Biden JCPOA aka the Iran Nuclear Deal."

Wasserman Schultz supported the Iran Nuclear Deal in 2015, telling CNN that the decision to do so was "gut-wrenching," yet "There's nothing more important to me as a Jew than to ensure that Israel's existence is there throughout our generations," and "There is no way that we would be able to ensure that better than approving this deal."

As a result, she condemned President Donald Trump's decision to decertify the deal, calling it "indefensible and reckless."

Before he can directly challenge Wasserman Schultz, Lieb must first win a contested primary election against retired Air Force General Chris Eddy.
