BUDAPEST— In an exclusive interview with The Floridian, Israel’s Minister of Diaspora Affairs, Amichai Chikli, praised Governor Ron DeSantis and other American lawmakers for standing up to Communism and antisemitism.
“DeSantis is doing an amazing job, I don’t think it’s a joke, anti-communist education. This is serious, very serious, said Minister Chikli, who added that the Israeli government was keeping tabs on the statements that people like Sens. Ted Cruz and Tom Cotton, and Reps. Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Jared Moskowitz, have made in support of Israel.
Chikli expressed that Israel has “really true friends in America,” and that the friendship was based on a share ideological belief.

“It’s not a friendship that is coming from interest, its not interest, its because we share the same belief. The heart and the core of American identity ,” added Chikli.
Interestingly enough, Chikli invoked The Bible, saying that it appears society has “abandoned the Bible,” adding that perhaps society needed to revisited scripture, “go back to where we started.”
“The Bible is so essential. Maybe we abandoned the Bible, and I am not talking from a religious perspective, but from a cultural perspective. Maybe we should go back to where we started. To regain the values that connected us together. The values that shaped America from the very beginning,” added Chikli.
Earlier in the day, Chikli spoke about the ongoing antisemitic protests accuring on the campuses of many U.S. universities.
The antisemitic, anti-Israel protests across American college campuses, most notably Yale and Columbia, have made many Jewish students fearful to the point a Columbia professor told them to stay home. Chikli condemned the protests, saying this was not only "a very dangerous moment for Jews in America," but for the American people as well.
