Florida Representative Bill Posey's (R-FL) congressional career is officially coming to an end, but not before the the congressman endorsed a new candidate in former Florida Senate President Mike Haridopolos (R-FL).

Rep. Posey has served in Congress since 2008 and has now worked in public service for over 30 years, doing 18 years of his time in the Florida Legislature.  The Congressman saw a lot change with the GOP over the years, and became a Trump supporter when former President Trump (R) gained popularity.

In fact, Posey certainly became what commentators call an "America First" Conservative.  Posey even opposed and voted against the foreign aid package supported by Speaker of the House Mike Johnson as well as the FISA renewal earlier this month.

Posey's team released a statement that neatly says goodbye to public service for the seasoned congressman and makes a strong endorsement of Haridopolos as well as Donald Trump. "It has been the greatest honor of Katie’s and my life to represent you in Congress." Posey adds, "And, polls suggest that because of YOUR support, I could remain in the job forever, and we were looking forward to another spirited campaign for a final term in office.  However, earlier this week circumstances beyond my control now require me to suspend my re-election campaign."

"I will continue to devote all possible resources to continue representing you through the end of my current term, helping President Donald Trump return to the oval office, and supporting former Florida Senate President Mike Haridopolos, in whom I have the greatest trust and confidence, to take up my battles against the swamp and replace me as your Congressman."

Haridopolos thanked Posey for his endorsement and has officially launched his campaign as of last Friday, giving Floridians a new face to watch in Florida politics.
