Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) sent a letter to secretary of homeland security Alejandro Mayorkas regarding illegal immigrants boarding commercial airplanes.
The letter comes after a center for immigration studies (CIS) report unveiled hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants were allowed to board US commercial airplanes without showcasing valid government ID.
According to the report, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) approved the transit of 320,000 inadmissible illegal aliens to 43 U.S. airports.
Senator Scott criticized President Joe Biden’s administration for their immigration policy.
Scott called the DHS policy a “brazen attempt by the Biden administration to undermine U.S. law.”
The respective immigrants are allowed to enter the US without brandishing id if they are approved through the customs and border protection (CBP) ‘CBP One’ app.
Countries whose citizens are eligible for parole through CBP One are Cuba, Haiti, Venezuela, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Colombia and Ecuador.
Scott noted national security concerns regarding immigration influxes from parole-eligible states through CBP one.
According to Scott, permitting for undocumented immigrants from these states to enter the US without proving their identity is a national security risk.
Scott cited some of the parole eligible states’ cooperation with US adversaries, such as Iran and Hezbollah, as areas of concern.
Consequently, Scott claimed “DHS has intentionally made our country more vulnerable to adversaries” through their parole policies.
The letter concluded by requesting the DHS provide answers to a bevy of questions.
Among these are the number of children boarding commercial airplanes while unidentified and whether passengers on flights with CBP One parole program participants were notified of the latter’s presence.
