Mills Rescues 13 More Americans From Haiti in Second Mission

Share

With the crisis in Haiti continuing to deteriorate, Representative Cory Mills (R-FL) once again went above and beyond the call of duty, undergoing a second mission to rescue 13 more Americans trapped in the Caribbean country on St. Patrick's Day.

The week before, Rep. Mills rescued ten American workers at a Haitian orphanage, accusing the Biden Administration of following "a clear pattern of abandonment."

"With great pride, I announce the successful rescue of another group of Americans from [Port Au Prince], Haiti. Our team extracted 13 Americans, who were volunteers for a children’s ministry, trapped in Haiti. Among them were a 2-month-old baby and a 3-year-old little girl," Rep. Mills said in a statement.

Additionally, Mills further slammed the Biden Administration for failing to do more to aid Americans stranded abroad in times of crisis, Haiti being the third country the Florida Congressman conducted missions to rescue citizens from since President Biden took office in 2021, first in Afghanistan during the disastrous withdrawal in August 2021 and then from Israel in the wake of the Hamas terror attack this past October 7th.

"Our team's efforts have surpassed those of the entire Biden administration, further highlighting his pattern of abandonment and failed leadership. This is not the first time we've had to step in to do Joe Biden’s job for him. Previously, we rescued 255 people from Israel in October 2023 and we facilitated evacuations from Afghanistan in 2021," Mills continued.

Before his second mission, Mills appeared on Fox Business's Mornings with Maria, heavily criticizing the lack of planning by the State Department to evacuate Americans from Haiti, but still managed to extract themselves.

"The State Department essentially told them that they were in the midst of planning. What they did not tell them is that they were in the midst of planning their own evacuation. The very next day, they evacuated themselves. [The American orphanage workers] no longer had anyone that they could actually contact at the State Department," the Florida Congressman told host Maria Bartiromo.

Similarly, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) has also sponsored flights to Haiti rescuing Americans trapped in the country, the most recent group of 14 landing at the Sanford International Airport, while a prior group of 47 landed in Miami.
