Mills Condemns Biden's Failure to Rescue Americans Stranded in Haiti

With the crisis in Haiti descending deeper into chaos, Representative Cory Mills (R-FL) once again personally traveled to evacuate Americans trapped in a foreign country, rescuing ten orphanage workers. The Florida Congressman recently appeared on Fox Business's Mornings with Maria to discuss the mission and condemn the Biden Administration for "dereliction of duty" and accused the Department of State of actively hindering his efforts to do what they would not.

Rep. Mills described how Representative Lisa McClain (R-MI) and other members of Congress contacted him to rescue the ten American orphanage workers after the State Department initially said they would be in charge of getting them out.

"The State Department essentially told them that they were in the midst of planning," Rep. Mills recalled, "What they did not tell them is that they were in the midst of planning their own evacuation. The very next day, they evacuated themselves. [The American orphanage workers] no longer had anyone that they could actually contact at the State Department."

More egregiously, the Florida Congressman said the State Department "actually tried to dissuade us" from undertaking the rescue despite not having plans in place to get the remaining Americans out of Haiti, having failed to do so twice before in Afghanistan during the disastrous 2021 withdrawal or in Israel in 2023 after the Hamas terror attack that left over 1,200 dead.

"This is dereliction of duty at its finest," Mills decried, adding, "This is, again, the third time since Joe Biden has taken office, whether it's Afghanistan 2021, Israel 2023, or now Haiti 2024, where they could go over and help rescue or evacuate Americans because Biden's Administration is responsible for these failures, refused to do so."

Host Maria Bartiromo mentioned Governor Ron DeSantis's (R-FL) recent announcement of efforts to prevent Haitians from reaching Florida by boat, adding resources in South Florida to prepare for the anticipated mass migration.

While Mills commended Gov. DeSantis as having "done a great thing in trying to protect our national sovereignty," many Haitians are coming through the border with Mexico, such as in Eagle Pass, Texas.

Nevertheless, Mills concluded by saying, "None of this would have actually been occurring had President Trump been in office. And so I think that we are setting the world on fire, and the pattern of abandonment by the Biden Administration must change, and that is why we need to get a new elected official in President Trump back in the White House."
