DeSantis Touts Florida's Low Unemployment Rate

Share

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) continues to tout the success of the sunshine state. Florida has been ranked as one of the best performing states in the country, and pundits argue this has reflected in support for the governor. In the latest review, Governor DeSantis shared that Florida continues to highlight its low unemployment rate.

Governor DeSantis has kept busy since suspending his presidential campaign, and amidst recent legislative actions, the governor has also taken time to highlight the sunshine state's successes. The track record continues with the state promoting its low unemployment rate.

Taking to social media to share the news, the government shared a graphic showcasing not only the state's unemployment rate but also its job growth.

"Florida has maintained a lower unemployment rate than the nation for the past 40 months," Governor DeSantis shared, adding that the state's "commonsense policies help Florida's families despite federal dysfunction."

Governor DeSantis also shared that Florida is also bolstering economic strength and confidence, noting that the state has fostered a 2.0% growth in Florida's labor force over the year in February 2024, faster than the national rate of 0.7%. Florida has also seen an addition of 57,500 jobs in the education and health services sector; 48,300 in the trade, transportation, and utilities sector; and 35,000 jobs in the leisure and hospitality industry.

Earlier this year, the governor didn’t rule out another run for the presidency in 2028. However, the results of Tuesday's Republican primary proved to be troubling for the governor.

Governor DeSantis came in third place behind President Donald Trump (R) and Ambassador Nikki Haley (R), showing a divide within Florida Republicans despite 81.2% of voters standing behind President Trump. 13.9% of voters backed Ambassador Haley, and 3.7% of voters back DeSantis.

During the Republican primary, Governor DeSantis and President Trump were involved in a contentious rivalry, and since suspending his campaign, the governor has endorsed President Trump for president.
