Senate Democrats have struck down Florida Senator Rick Scott’s (R) Stop Taxpayer Funding of Hamas. Senator Scott reintroduced the bill almost a year ago, and similar to when it was first introduced, it’s been once again struck down.

Senator Scott took to the Senate floor to comment on the ongoing foreign aid negotiations. In his plea to his colleagues, Senator Scott requested that the Senate vote on adding his Stop Taxpayer Funding of Hamas Act to the supplemental funding bill. This would ensure that no taxpayer dollars will go toward funding, as a press release from his office states, “Hamas’ terror under the guise of Palestinian aid.” Moreover, it would require the president to certify that there are no hostages in Gaza.

“Some of my Democrat colleagues would want you to believe that any opposition to their agenda is evil and unjustified,” he said in his speech on the Senate floor. Senator Scott went on to warn that financial concerns pose a threat to the security of the country.

“Today we are once again cash strapped and war weary. Like never before, Americans are questioning whether their federal government has lost its way,” Senator Scott commented, noting that “less than 25% of the country believes that we are on the right track.”

“We must stop taxpayer dollars from funding Hamas’ terror and ensure the release of the hostages,” he called.

Subsequently, the former Governor of Florida accused Democrats of aiding Hamas by voting against his bill. Senator Scott unleashed against Senate Democrats, arguing that “today, Senate Democrats did Hamas’ dirty work by blocking the Senate from even voting on my amendment to stop taxypayer dollars going to Hamas.”

He went on to call the vote “disgusting.”

Over the weekend the Republican Party of Florida endorsed Senator Scott in his reelection bid.
