House Republicans successfully impeached Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas by a single vote in favor. Representative Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) appeared on Fox Business's Mornings with Maria after to discuss, reiterating that the Biden Administration is allowing the border crisis to happen on purpose because "nobody can be that dumb."
Host Maria Bartiromo inquired Rep. Gimenez on how Mayorkas reacted to the evidence put forth by House Republicans about the border crisis, such as the high number of Chinese nationals coming across.
"First of all, the Secretary until very recently said everything was okay, the border was secure, and that everything was pretty much going along as what they planned until they finally had to face the fact when the President himself said the border is not secure and that we are crisis at the border," Rep. Gimenez answered.
Therefore, he said, Mayorkas needed to be impeached for breaking the law and breaching his public trust. More importantly, President Biden reversed President Trump's executive order policies about the border on his first day in office.
"I have always said it over and over again. This is on purpose. It has always been on purpose. And so when you purposely violate the law, when you purposely breach your public trust, you get impeached, and so that is what happened to Secretary Mayorkas," Gimenez continued.
Bartiromo further asked if this was the case, what purpose is the Biden Administration attempting to fulfill through flooding the border and the United States with illegal migrants?
Gimenez could not explain why, but he did "know it is on purpose because nobody can be that dumb. Nobody can be that dumb, alright?"
"We have told them over, and over, and over again, 'You have to do this and this and this to this border under control.' They refuse to do it. [Mayorkas] is not a dumb person. He is a very smart man. So after all of that, and you have to see the results, and after three years, you still do not change what you are doing, then it is on purpose. It has got to be on purpose, and he willfully violated the law," Gimenez concluded.
Gimenez's colleague Representative Kat Cammack (R-FL) came to the same conclusion in early January before the first attempt to impeach Mayorkas, saying that he smiled when informed of the upcoming vote and replied, "You are not going to like who comes next." As a result, Rep. Cammack called him "dangerous" and said he "knows exactly what he is doing."
