Donalds Blasts Senate Border Deal in Flurry of Social Media Posts

Share

Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) sent out a flurry of posts on social media condemning the recently released bipartisan Senate border deal.

The deal would still allow an influx of illegal immigrants into the country through the southern border but provide $20.23 billion for “operational needs and capabilities” as well as resources for the new border policies, according to CNN.

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) said the bill was “dead on arrival.”

Rep. Donalds kept it even simpler, calling the bill “trash.”

“5,000 illegal aliens per day. 150,000 illegal aliens per month. 1,800,000 illegal aliens per year. $60+ BILLION MORE to Ukraine. This Senate deal is TRASH, plain and simple. 269 days ago, [the] House GOP passed a REAL SOLUTION to the border crisis, H.R. 2,” said the Florida congressman.

He continued by mentioning some of the main flaws of the bill for Republicans.

“The Senate deal is TERRIBLE: 1) Codifies Catch & Release 2) Lets in 1.8M Illegals 3) Funds Sanctuary Cities 4) Funds NGOs Moving Illegals 5) Taxpayer-Funded Lawyers to Illegals 6) Work Permits to Illegals 7) Nothing To Deport Illegals 8) No Immediate Wall Funds 9) Weaker Asylum Screening” said Rep. Donalds.

Finally, Donalds called for Speaker Johnson to not take the bill up for a vote, saying it should “never get a vote in the House!”

“The Senate bill is awful! America, read from pages 212 to 217, and you will see why. There have to be 41 Republican Senators who will say NO to this monstrosity. Speaker Johnson this bill should never get a vote in the House!” said Donalds.

During an interview with The Floridian, Rep. Donalds asserted that the case being made to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas could be applied to President Biden, accusing the president of having the responsibility “to execute federal law,” but has failed to do so.

“He has directed Alejandro Mayorkas to make these crazy divergences from federal law when it comes to securing our southern border, so if we are going to impeach Alejandro Mayorkas for this, I definitely believe those are grounds for impeachment for Joe Biden,” said Rep. Donalds.

Congressman Donalds represents Florida’s 19th District.
