House Republicans are prepared to impeach Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas for his handling of the border crisis, although many contend he is acting on orders from President Biden. As a result, Representative Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) told The Floridian in a recent interview that the grounds for impeaching Mayorkas are equally applicable to Biden.

Rep. Gimenez described how Mayorkas has been "allowing fentanyl to flow [into the country] at a rate [of] 500%, five times greater than it was prior to him entering," which has killed thousands of Americans, with up to 70,000 dying fentanyl-related deaths in 2021, a 24% increase from 2020.

Additionally, Mayorkas' record of lying to Congress about the state of border security is additional grounds for impeachment. However, Rep. Gimenez pointed out that "he is doing it with the knowledge of the President of the United States. So the President is also guilty of those things, too."

As a result, even without the ongoing impeachment inquiry into the alleged influence-peddling scheme perpetrated by the Bidens, the border alone is a legitimate cause for impeaching Biden.

"We are impeaching his Secretary of Homeland Security, [and] I do not think it [is being] done because the Secretary of Homeland Security is running counter to what the President of the United States wants him to do. So if Mayorkas is impeachable for those offenses, I think that those can transfer to the President of the United States," Gimenez concluded.

Since December, Gimenez has been openly saying the Biden Administration is allowing the border crisis to happen on purpose. Representative Kat Cammack (R-FL) came to the same conclusion shortly after when she claimed Mayorkas merely smiled and said, "You are not going to like who comes next" in response to the threat of impeachment.

This attitude has also extended to ongoing attempts by other Republicans to get a deal with the White House and Senate on securing the border, with Gimenez and Senator Marco Rubio (R-FLsaying the Biden Administration would not comply with any laws regarding the border anyway.
